Chestnut centre pole 4.50 m with pole cap

This chestnut centre pole of 4.50 metres sits between the 4.00 and the 5.00 metre and comes with a pole cap. It gives noticeably more ridge height than the 4.00 metre without going straight to the heaviest size. Chestnut is untreated timber with the bark left on: every pole has its own curve and grain, and weathers grey outdoors on its own.

When do you choose the 4.50 m centre pole?

Choose this size if you use side poles of 3.00 or 3.50 metres. That leaves one to one and a half metres of height difference, enough for the fabric to run taut and shed water properly. With 2.50 metre side poles, the 4.00 metre centre pole is usually enough already. If you want the ridge higher still, the 5.00 metre centre pole is the next step.

What fits, and what does not

The pole cap is included. For the foot there is the centre pole holder, which keeps the pole steady in place. Pole socks do not fit: they are made for 51 and 76 mm poles, and this pole is far thicker at 10 to 15 cm. The pole bolt sets are for the side poles, not for the centre pole.
