Description
Ratchet strap for stretch tents
This ratchet strap lets you tension a stretch tent without tying rope. Clip the carabiner into the eyelet of the canvas, fix the strap to the ground with one or two pegs and pull the canvas tight with the ratchet. The 50 mm polyester webbing has a lashing capacity (LC) of 1500 daN to EN 12195-2. Available in beige and black to match your canvas.
Suited to anyone pitching their own tent for a party, to rental companies that want every tension point done quickly and the same way, and to hospitality venues and campsites with a covered area.
How is the strap built?
- A galvanised 100 mm carabiner that clips into the eyelet of the canvas.
- A steel triangle at the carabiner that helps spread the tension.
- A 5.5 metre strap down to the ratchet.
Suitable pegs include the ground anchor 1000 x 30 mm or the heavier ground anchor 1000 x 35 mm.
Need more?
For rental companies and larger set-ups there is the bulk deal of 10 straps, which lowers the price per strap. More anchoring is in Storm straps, Tent Pegs and Ballast & anchoring.
Strap or rope: which do you choose?
Traditionally you tension a stretch tent with rope: a triangle rope set per point, tightened with a rope ratchet block. The ratchet strap does the same job with webbing instead of rope.
Choose the strap if you want to work quickly without knots and keep every tension point identical. The ratchet holds the tension, and a few strokes are enough to adjust it.
Choose rope if you want to set the length at each point freely, or if you prefer stainless steel. The strap's carabiner is galvanised steel, while the rope sets come with an 80 or 100 mm stainless steel carabiner.
A ratchet strap is not a storm strap. The ratchet strap replaces the rope at one tension point. A storm strap is a long strap of 20 to 35 metres for extra security in wind.
Want a single central fixing point? Attach the strap to an anchor plate with M20 eye nut.
